The Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) has now begun the countdown to launch its iCampus initiative to coincide with the World Skills International Competition - London 2011 this October.
The iCampus is a virtual and intelligent campus that will not only showcase the different skills categories that the Emirates Skills team will compete in, but will also broadcast the events from World Skills London and the progress of the UAE team in the competition. All UAE schools will be sent information on how their students can register to join the exciting ‘Social Learn-and-Work space’ that the iCampus creates.
The iCampus is an online environment, like Facebook, but where learners can investigate, experiment, collaborate, share and know more about technical and vocational education. Students of all ages, who register on the iCampus, will soon be able to attend a class or a training session and have real time video access to tutors and faculty specialists in the online classroom. The World of Learning is open and the development team at ACTVET is researching new ways in which technology can be leveraged to enhance the learning experience.
Over the next three months and part of the UAE’s 40 Year celebrations ACTVET will launch new pavilions within the iCampus for the High Schools and Academies to provide information and resources on the world class Career Technical and Vocational Education offered to UAE Nationals in all seven Emirates, through the Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) and Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Technical Institutes (ADVETI)
This iCampus project, with its intuitive learning interface, is one of the first of its type in the Middle East and will help learners to experience the innovations in technology that are influencing leading international education providers and systems.
Social networking meets Learning on the Abu Dhabi iCampus.
