ADEC signed MOUs with the Institute of Applied Technology represented by Mr. Paul Edmunds, Senior Manager, UAE University represented by Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Al Zarooni, Dean of the University General Requirements Unit and Director of the Continuing Education Center, the Higher Colleges of Technology represented by Dr Simon Jones and Abu Dhabi University represented by Chancellor Dr Nabil Ibrahim. Summer centers will receive students starting from June 20 to July 18 2010.
Dr. Al Khaili said that we must work together to provide students with care and allow them to make use of their time in a creative way. The major purpose of the Sayfuna Mumayaz program is to provide a variety of positive learning experiences for students that are fun and at the same time 'value-add' to their knowledge, skills and attitudes. This year's program will include a wide range of activities and some educational excursions."
"I would like to acknowledge the strong support provided to all ADEC's initiatives, activities and programs, to include Sayfuna Mumayaz by our leaders, whose vision for improving education in Abu Dhabi is an inspiration to all of us," he added.
"I call upon parents to encourage their children to participate in all the activities of Sayfuna Mumayaz program as it will help children use their free time to participate in useful activities that can develop their skills. The program's educational, social, cultural and sport activities will give students the chance to improve their teamwork, leadership and English skills," he added.
H.E Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, ADEC's Executive Director of School Operations, said that Sayfuna Mumayaz 2010 program is expected to be of great value and success as proven by the previous years. "Students are keen to participate and benefit from the program's wide range of activities. Many improvements have been introduced to the program to add more fun as Sayfuna Mumayaz is about fun and learning" he added.
Close 29,000 students in total will participate in the program with 22,000 Grade 2-8 students participating in this year's programs at 74 sites across the Emirate. The program includes many activities such as art & craft, woodwork, fashion & beauty, cooking, traditional dancing, fitness sessions, science, English, computers, reading, drawing, educational games, chess, writing, culture, heritage and other activities.
The program also includes several sports activities such as skating, bowling, swimming, judo, football, fencing, karate, soap football, horse riding, table football, table tennis, billiards, etc.
7,000 Grade 9-11 students will participate in English, Robotics and IT skill enhancement programs at UAE University, HCT, Abu Dhabi University and Institute of Applied Technology.
Students with special needs can also register for participating in the program as selected schools have been assigned to accommodate their requirements and needs.
