Chairman of the Board of trustees at American University in the Emirates (AUE) His Excellency Muhammad Saleh Bin Bduway Al Darmaki inaugurated the gulf regions first degree in diplomacy during a reception on the AUE campus. The Master degree program is a two year degree in diplomacy based on the American style curriculum with courses in areas such as negotiation, conflict resolution, international relations, world religion, protocol, and etiquette.
Sarah Omolewu, Marketing and Communications Manager of AUE opened the ceremony by welcoming the numerous VIPs in attendance who showed their support for the program including His Excellency Muhammad Saleh Bin Bduway Al Darmaki, Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al-Haidan, Assistant Minister for Political Affairs, His Excellency Ahmed Humaid Al Tayer, CEO of Emirates National Bank of Dubai (NBD), and Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai International Acedemic City. She stated, “The enormous success of the launch of this program would not have been possible if not for the continued support from leaders in the UAE”
The Master degree program is designed to meet the increasing demand for international business relations and diplomacy experts in the region. Dr. Muthanna G. Abdul Razzaq, President of AUE stated “I believe, increasingly all of us are becoming aware of the challenges we face today that require a complex, multidimensional approach to public diplomacy – at the backdrop of the international relations and diplomacy we study”
Students accepted into the new Masters program attended the reception as courses for the new program began yesterday. Speaking directly to the students, Dr. Nabeel A. Jurdi, Provost and Vice President of AUE stated “We want you to be at your best in learning international relations, negotiation, conflict resolution, and all other matters of diplomacy. Above grounds of interactions will give you the confidence and opportunities to deal with the challenges in your workplaces, competitiveness, and assignments.”
Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al-Haidan expressed his support of the new program by stating "With the introduction of this exciting new program, AUE continues to lead the way with innovative academic curriculum in the region offering courses designed to meet the demands of the market. From AUE’s history in distinguished program excellence, I can only predict that the best is yet to come.”
