Online IELTS training courses launched

University of Cambridge Esol Examinations and New Zealand’s online English language testing provider Vital English have launched online preparation courses for the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

The online courses are aimed at the 1.5 million candidates who take IELTS each year to help them get onto their chosen career or education path, a statement said.

“Successful students all over the world are recognising the importance of adequate preparation,” said Sharon Harvey from Cambridge Esol (English for speakers of other languages) Examinations, a non-profit assessment organisation.

“The new courses will allow candidates to build on their revision plans with a resource that is accurately aligned to the demands of the test,” she added.

The IELTS preparation courses are available in two versions: the IELTS blended learning courses, combining online and classroom study, and the 100 per cent online IELTS self-study courses.

Both include 100 hours of learning through the essential fours skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. They use a range of multimedia interactive learning tools and will benefit the hundreds of thousands of people each year looking to boost their global mobility through an IELTS test, according to the statement.

The blended learning version for the Academic module of IELTS allows tuition providers to adjust the amount of online and classroom learning according to the individual needs of their learners – so higher band learners receive more online study and less classroom support than lower band learners.
The self-study courses – made up of 25 hour online modules – cover the different skills for IELTS academic and general training and can be taken individually or combined to form a longer course, the statement said.
